How is the observing score calculated?
Scores run from 0–100 (higher is better). This is a backyard-conditions index for astro use — not a guarantee of perfect skies.

- Wind gusts, humidity, rain today, and pressure trend from the Tempest station.
- Overnight cloud cover % from the National Weather Service grid (sunset → sunrise).
- Moonlight is not penalized — useful for narrowband imaging.

- Overnight sky brightness from the station lux sensor, minus expected moonlight and a fixed sky-glow baseline. Only excess brightness counts as clouds or haze.

- Humidity > 70 / 80 / 90% → −8 / −15 / −25
- Any rain that day → −30
- Cloud cover > 10 / 25 / 45 / 65 / 85% → −4 / −10 / −18 / −28 / −40
- Excess sky glow (after moon) → up to −40 on very bright overcast nights
- Falling / rising pressure → −12 / +8
Colors: green ≥ 75 (good), amber 50–74 (fair), red < 50 (poor).
